Tarot- The Death Card

I do not believe that drawing the death card is the worst thing in the world.  Besides, life is about a series of letting go.  Nothing stays the same and we as humans are always in a state of change, some for the good some for the bad.  If I am going through a bad time, I see the death card, I think it means a death of a bad situation.

In astrology, the death card is associated  with Scorpio.  Scorpios are associated with death, rebirth and regeneration.  This sign tends to be very polarizing in that those born under this sign can rise to great heights or plummet to the bottom of the barrel.  I have personally known a few Scorpios in my day and putting it nicely, the definition of the negative side is quite true in my situation.  Scorpios come packed with a sting and some will stop at nothing to destroy you.  My main villain in the story is associated with these traits and represents someone I had the misfortune of ever having dealings with.

The planet that rules Scorpio is Pluto. Another planet that is mysterious.

If you conduct a reading and the death card surfaces, do pay attention to what kind of reading it is and where it shows up.  The death card can really turn into a good thing.

The word death has such a negative connotation.  Sometimes the death of something is simply the birth of something new.

The Lovers Card In Tarot

The Lovers card shows a naked man and woman standing beneath the angel, Raphael, whose name means ‘God heals’ and represents both physical and emotional healing. The angel blesses the man and woman and reminds them of their union with the Divine.

The couple stands in a beautiful, fertile landscape, reminiscent of the Garden of Eden. Behind the woman stands a tall apple tree, with a snake winding its way up the trunk. The serpent and apple tree represent the temptation of sensual pleasures that may take one’s focus away from the Divine. Behind the man is a tree of flames, which represent passion, the primary concern of the man. The twelve flames suggest the twelve zodiac signs, the symbol of time and eternity. The man looks to the woman, who watches the angel, showing the path of the conscious to the subconscious to the super-conscious, or from physical desire to emotional needs to spiritual concerns.
The volcanic mountain in the background is rather phallic and represents the eruption of passion that happens when man and woman meet in full frontal nudity.

In astrology, the lovers card is associated with the 3rd house, and Gemini which is ruled by the planet Mercury.
The Angel is a messenger of love and brings guidance from the heavens to help the man and woman. Similarly, Gemini rules the 3rd House of communication, information and messages.

Tarot The Priestess

What I want to point out first is, that there are 2 columns in this picture.  What modern day teachings, more so with certain religious establishments would have you believe is that the columns B and J represent King Solomon and the pillars from the old testament. B represents Boaz or negation or strength and J represents Jachin or establish.
However, I disagree.   Ever heard of the Free Masons?  I won’t go into a topic on them and the secret codes of society hidden in plain sight.  In particular columns are representative in much of their institution.  See the image.

M

They are believed to have many secrets within their society…just as the priestess holds what is hidden.
What do I mean?  The priestess is associated with the Earth’s moon which in turn is rules the astrological sign of cancer.  Now what do we know about these topics?  Well first of all the moon is considered feminine, just as the sign of cancer is.  Priestess herself is considered what is hidden from us, mystery, feminism, emotions.  Now the card itself is associated with Virgo or the Virgin in astrology.  Another feminine aspect.  What do we know about Cancer witch is represented by the crab.  Well crabs are a mysterious lot.  They hide in their shell in live in the water, poke one and you get the snip!

The priestess forces us to look for hidden truths.
Anyway, I find it interesting that the Priestess that represents what is hidden, truly hides more from us even in representation of the columns.  The columns simply represent the duality of life.   Man and woman, duality and that we if you take a look at the image that comes from the Masonic Lodge, there again are depicted as columns.  On the card, which is number 2 card, I think what the columns represent are more than just some reference to the bible.
Humans are simply a part of something so grand, that if we simply look beyond our scope for deeper meanings of things would help us live to our full potential.  Everything in our universe and the world as we know is requires balance.
In my books in the series Meridian Chronicles, I do reference tarot and astrology…but not in this depth.
However, I also have riddles and mystery.   I write about the things that I do because even though my books are fiction, they are based on my truths, what life is to me.  That the universe requires balance and that not everything we see is on the surface.  Look beyond what we see for hidden meanings.   The protagonist in my series is named after something that we do not see, but exists - Meridian.  Our bodies have meridian lines and our planet has a meridian line.
From the author's perspective, I love the priestess card because I am fascinated with the hidden and the unknown.  When she comes up in a reading depending on the placement- look beyond the surface for answers.

Black Moon Lilith in Taurus

Black Moon Lilith in Taurus

In astrology you are more than your sun sign.  As of late, I have not written a lot on basic suns etc.  and at some point I will.  Right now I am really into writing about the signs we don’t usually talk about, the placements in a person’s chart that really expresses who they are.
I started with asteroids, like Lilith.  Being my books are dark and about the occult, I can see why I gravitate toward writing about that.  So in my previous article on Black Moon Lilith I gave a snap shot of who she is etc. what it means.  Now I am going to write my interpretation of what it means when she is in a sign in a person’s chart.
So let’s get this straight, she is in everyone’s chart.  To know, you must know your time of birth and place.  So let’s talk about Black Moon Lilith in Taurus.  To understand it you need to know a little about Taurus.
Taurus is the bull ruled by the planet Venus.  Those bon under this sign are sensuous, stubborn, determined, love the finer things in life, expensive items and luxury.  You will find the women born under this sign may be a bit of a ‘diva’ in some way in their life.  They also love good food, and I mean good food.  So how does this relate to black moon Lilith in a chart?
Black Moon Lilith rules the dark side, your hidden sexual desires, things you wish to hide from the world and struggles.
Those with this placement may struggle with finding a secure income, have issues holding onto possessions etc.  Will resist change and will hold onto the same situation despite what is happening. Maybe the person has suffered a job loss and from that lost or couldn’t hold onto a source of income that was very important.
This is not the worse placement; I have read about worse.  The best thing that these people can do, is learn to let go and move on if needed.  Find other resources to secure income and assets.  Don’t be afraid to let go of what isn’t working and that includes people and situations.

The Magician in the Tarot- Black Widow Curse & The Coven

In my book Black Widow Curse & The Coven, I do reference Tarot and readings through the book.
During the scene when Raina the witch asks Meridian to look at a certain Tarot card and describe what she sees, Raina has more of an agenda here than what appears on the surface.
The very card that Raina pulls, is the magician.

S
What does this card represent?  Well it can represent many things depending on the spread used, the placement and what other cards are placed in the reading.  Now for the sake of conversation let's talk about the magician.

In the book 'Black Widow Curse & The Coven', this card is very significant in terms of Meridian and who she is-  More so the symbol of infinity above the magician's head.  It means unlimited potential, which Meridian has, however she doesn't realize that aspect at the time.  In fact at this point in the story she really doesn't understand what has happened to her at all.

M

However, the magician points to the sky and to the Earth which means that he represents the spiritual and the physical world, just as Meridian does.  She maybe a human at the present, but she is a spirit from the spirit world.  In addition, the infinity sign Meridian also carries on her wrist and as she was a spirit, it looked similar to a hologram and as a human, it looks a simple as a black tattoo.

Back to the tarot card,  on the table in front of him are the four symbols of the Tarot suits – a cup, pentacle, sword and wand – each symbolizing one of the four elements – water, earth, air and fire.

Who else in the book represents the elements?  Ah, the fairy nymphs who too represent the four elements.  The nymphs are indeed the ones who play that role in helping Meridian and Aiden see the message from the Universe in the next book 'Fairy Nymphs & The Demon Court' which is book number three in the series.

As far as tarot from the author's perspective, well if you have read my books, then one thing you will find is,  I am not short on an open mind.  Raised in the south from a father from the middle of the states and a mother who grew up in Jersey with immigrant parents from England and Denmark, I would have to say that my upbringing was more than likely different than my other friends.  My mom's English/Jersey accent really made for colorful conversation in terms of accents and she is in many ways the reason I write what I do. I still try to ignite some of her fiery temperament, her accent comes out during her heated times :) She doesn't believe in many of the things I write about, but she gave me the ability to see things from a different point of view and to remain open minded to others who may not come from the places I do, geographically, spiritually and even in mindset.

In closing, as far as Tarot.  I own a few sets of these cards myself and I have had others read for me.  I can't say if the things I have gotten from my readings really mean what the cards say, or if it is simply a fulfilling of self prophecy.

I think it maybe a little of both.  What about you?  Ever had a reading?  Are you in touch with the spiritual?
Some authors write fantasy of the things they are interested in or maybe even experienced,  I would say as an author with this series, I write from not only what interests me, but some of what I live.

Black Moon Lilith in Aries

Black Moon Lilith in Aries is a bit daunting.   The sign Aries is ruled by the planet Mars.  This is a fixed fire sign and "God Of War" type of energy,  making it a volatile placement!
Lilith represents rebellion, feminism, and rising above oppression.  Couple that with Aries and there is a real driving force here.
This is also about 'me first' with Aries ruling the 1st house which also inclines to a less diplomatic approach in relationships and sex if the energy is not harnessed.   In some cases the person may be a fighter for themselves, however,  they may also be a fighter for a group.
Caution should be taken with the 'my way or the highway attitude.'  When these individuals are at their best, they are great leaders and innovators but anger them and be prepared to be burned with fire!
